Putting God Above All Things
We met in Holladay, Utah, while participating in a singles ward in 2020, so we can testify that singles wards do work. Just five months after the meeting, we were sealed in the Draper Temple. Now, we have a 20-month-old son named Liam.
Claudia was introduced to the gospel in Venezuela at 24, thanks to her mother inviting missionaries to their home. The experience that began my testimony was when the mission president visited us and showed us a video of the First Vision. I knew that the gospel had been restored through Joseph Smith and that everything the elders had taught in my home was true.
Daniel was introduced to the gospel in Colombia with his mother. My mom had seen missionaries a few times in her childhood and youth, but her family didn't want anything to do with them. When I was eight years old, we saw them across the street, and my mom asked if I wanted to know more about God. I said yes, and she decided to cross the street and stop them. Shortly thereafter, she was baptized, followed by me after I finally passed the baptismal interview questions a month later, after failing the first time. This experience has helped me all my life to know that things should be done right, not passing the baptismal questions means I've failed, and everything is in God's timing.
Since we got engaged and married, we've had many experiences that have tested our faith. But the most important aspect of all these experiences is the principle of putting God above all things. This has helped us to move forward and continue on the covenant path.
